Cherry Cola Crush Slushie

Description

A fizzy, nostalgic Cherry Cola Crush Slushie made with frozen cherries, cola, a touch of lemon juice, and plenty of ice for a sweetโ€‘tart, sodaโ€‘like frozen drink that tastes like a 7โ€‘Eleven Cherry Slurpee turned into a homemade slushie.

Ingredients

2 cups frozen cherries (pitted)

1 1/2 cups cola (regular or caffeineโ€‘free)

1/2 cup crushed ice or ice cubes

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1โ€“2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup (optional, if you prefer extra sweetness)

Instructions

1. Add the frozen cherries, cola, crushed ice, lemon juice, and honey or simple syrup (if using) to a highโ€‘speed blender.

2. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and icy, scraping down the sides if needed.

3. If the slushie is too thick, add a splash more cola; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend briefly.

4. Adjust sweetness by adding a little more honey or simple syrup to taste.

5. Pour immediately into chilled glasses, optionally garnished with a maraschino cherry or a lemon wedge for a retro sodaโ€‘shop look.

Notes

For a nonโ€‘caffeinated version, use a caffeineโ€‘free cola or cherryโ€‘flavored soda.

If you want a grownโ€‘up twist, add a splash of cherry liqueur or a shot of bourbon or dark rum before blending.

Serve right away, as the carbonation will fade quickly once the slushie warms up.
