Fresh Strawberry Basil Lime Drink

  • Author: danyrecipes

  • Yield: 2 servings

Description

This Fresh Strawberry Basil Lime Drink pairs sweet juicy strawberries with fragrant basil and zesty lime into a sophisticated, refreshing drink that tastes nothing like ordinary fruit drinks. The herbal basil note adds a layer of complexity that makes every sip surprisingly delightful. You need just ten minutes and a blender to make this stunning, garden-fresh drink.

Ingredients

2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled and halved)

10 fresh basil leaves

3 tablespoons fresh lime juice

1 teaspoon lime zest

2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup (adjust to taste)

1 cup cold water or sparkling water

1 cup ice cubes

Extra basil leaves and lime wheels for garnish

Instructions

1. Hull and halve the fresh strawberries and add them into a high-speed blender.

2. Add fresh basil leaves directly into the blender.

3. Pour in fresh lime juice and add lime zest.

4. Add honey or simple syrup and cold water.

5. Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds until completely smooth.

6. Taste and adjust lime juice or sweetness as needed.

7. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the drink over the ice.

8. Garnish with a fresh basil leaf and a lime wheel and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh basil only โ€” dried basil completely kills the fresh herbal flavor this drink depends on.

Ripe, deeply red strawberries give the best sweetness and the most vibrant color.

Sparkling water instead of still water adds a fun and refreshing fizzy finish.

Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother, pulp-free drink if preferred.

Double the batch for a party โ€” it keeps in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
