Description
A frosty, ultraโcold Brazilian Lemonade Slushie made with fresh whole limes, cold water, and lots of ice for a superโicy, restaurantโstyle frozen lime beverage.
Ingredients
3 medium limes, washed and quartered
3 cups cold water
1/3 cup granulated sugar (or sugarโfree sweetener to taste)
4 cups ice cubes
Instructions
1. Add the quartered limes and cold water to a highโspeed blender.
2. Pulse the mixture for exactly 10 to 15 seconds to release the lime juice and essential oils without pulling bitterness from the pith.
3. Strain the liquid through a fineโmesh sieve into a large pitcher or bowl, pressing gently to extract the juice, and discard the leftover lime solids.
4. Return the strained lime water to the rinsed blender.
5. Add the sugar (or sugarโfree sweetener) and ice cubes.
6. Blend on high until the mixture has a smooth, slushie texture, thick enough to cling to the sides of the glass.
7. Serve immediately in chilled glasses, optionally garnished with a lime wheel or a pinch of zest.
Notes
For a very frosty slushie, use the maximum amount of ice and blend until the mixture is thick and icy.
You can adjust the sweetness level by adding more or less sugar or using a sugarโfree sweetener.
Do not overโblend the limes in the first step to keep the drink from turning bitter.
Serve immediately, as the slush will soften quickly if left at room temperature.
