Description

These puff pastry sausage rolls are golden, flaky, and filled with savory sausage that bakes to juicy perfection. They’re the kind of appetizer that disappears the moment they hit the table, simple to make, comforting, and perfect for brunches, parties, or cozy nights at home.

Ingredients

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but still cold

½ lb ground sausage (pork, chicken, or turkey)

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for sealing and brushing)

1 tablespoon milk

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon chopped parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the sausage with mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a floured surface and cut it in half lengthwise.
  4. Place a thin line of sausage mixture along one edge of each strip.
  5. Roll up tightly, seam side down, and brush the edge with beaten egg to seal.
  6. Cut into small pieces about 1½ inches long and place them on the baking sheet.
  7. Brush tops with the remaining egg mixed with a splash of milk.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes until puffed, golden, and crisp.
  9. Cool slightly before serving warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold before baking for perfect layers.

For an extra golden crust, brush lightly with egg and milk just before baking.

These freeze beautifully; bake from frozen and add 5 extra minutes to the cook time.

Try serving with honey mustard or a creamy herb dip for extra flavor.
