These Rice Paper Mozzarella Sticks are a lighter, crispier twist on the classic appetizer. Each roll delivers that satisfying cheese pull with a glassy crunch that rivals Chili’s mozzarella sticks. They’re easy to make, fun to customize, and perfect for dipping in your favorite sauces.

Ingredients

8 mozzarella sticks (or string cheese)

8 sheets rice paper

Warm water, for soaking

Vegetable oil, for frying (or spray oil for air fryer)

Optional Add-ins

Crushed Hot Cheetos for a spicy version

Garlic powder or Italian seasoning

Shredded parmesan

Chili flakes or herbs

Marinara, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Fill a shallow dish with warm water and dip one sheet of rice paper for 10–15 seconds until soft.
  2. Place a mozzarella stick near the center, fold the sides, and roll tightly.
  3. (Optional) Double-wrap for extra crunch or roll in crushed Hot Cheetos.
  4. Heat 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with marinara or creamy dips.

Notes

Don’t oversoak the rice paper  it should be flexible, not mushy.

Air Fryer Option: Spray lightly with oil and cook at 400°F for 6–7 minutes, flipping halfway.

For serving inspiration, pair these with puff pastry appetizers or artichoke dip for a cozy snack platter.
